Town continues to plow local roads

Town goal to have all local roads “passable” by 6:00 PM tonight and to resume clearing roads at 8:00 am tomorrow morning. Crews expected to work most of next week removing additional snow to improve visibilty and remove hazards.

RI Travel Ban lifted

Gov. Chaffee lifted travel ban on state roads at 4:00 PM today. Roads in Portsmouth are still being cleared, drivers are urged to avoid non-essential travel.

Friday 11:55 PM – Most of Portsmouth is without power.  National Grid is unable to repair power lines due to the high wind that prevents the use of bucket trucks and other means to repair power lines.
