Everyone should closely monitor weather sources for the latest information on tropical storm Jose.
Based on the latest information from the National Hurricane Center, Jose is expected to pass by our area in the waters to our south as a Category 1 hurricane or a strong tropical storm in the Tuesday – Wednesday time frame. The exact track and timing of the storm and how close it will come to our area is not yet known.
Everyone should be prepared for strong tropical storm force winds and heavy rain before Tuesday. You can help mitigate potential damage from high winds by taking in lawn furniture and other loose items around your property this weekend. Everyone should review their family emergency communications plans and inspect their 3-day emergency supply kit now. Keep vehicle fuel tanks at least half full. Locate and charge your cell phone reserve battery banks now. Check or replace the batteries in your flashlights, lanterns, radios, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors.
